KCPS Empowerment

KCPS Empowerment is a collaborative program serving students experiencing homelessness in the Kansas City Public School district.

 How It Works

Collaboration

Homelessness is a complex problem. In order to offer the wide variety of services our families need we have partnered with several agencies in the Kansas City area. These agencies come together during our Empowerment Friday events to support the families in the KCPS Empowerment program.

Intensive Case Management

Our Navigators meet with families to assess their specific needs. Based on those needs, goals are set and the Navigators start working with the families to remove barriers preventing them from being self-sufficient.

A Long Term Relationship

When a family enters our KCPS Empowerment program, it is the beginning of a long-term relationship. Our Navigators will continue to work with our families until their youngest child graduates high school.

Empowerment Friday

Typically a family experiencing housing instability would need to travel to multiple locations to access all the necessary services. Empowerment Friday brings the relevant services to a single place on a single day, ensuring that our families get the assistance they need.
